Nepal earthquake
Kathmandu Nepal:
25th April marks the first  anniversary of the devastating 7.9 Richter scale earthquake which resulted in damaged of property worth NRS 513 Billion. After the earthquake around  $4.4 billion was pledged globally where  only about $2.8 billion has been delivered and to make things worst the reconstruction process just officially started few months ago where nothing has been done.

Though the Nepal Government has been very proactive in providing details of the earthquake facts and figure to the outside world but on real grounds things have not changed. Reality is 600,000 homes were destroyed leaving 950,000 children  without schools and still things are the same.

As per data, it is estimated that around 4 million Nepalese are still living in sub-standard temporary shelters in a poor conditions that challenges their basic rights food, health and education.

The Government has decided to give NRS 0.2 million to each household as a compensation for reconstruction that too with condition of meeting up the earthquake resistant design.  Though during the year the Nepal Government distributed small amounts of money facilitate the victim but the 0.2 million seems to be just like the tip of the iceberg.

It is very sad to say how the government is failing to manage the Donor’s money and further there seems to be political manipulation going on in regards to the whole issue of earthquake and  its reconstruction process. Though its should have been the number one priority but still it has been the least bothered topic where  the people have returned to their normal life but their house and homes awaits for reconstruction process.

The country has suffered enough, as soon after the earthquake it had to face the invisible blockade imposed by India in view of not agreeing to the new Constitution. The KP Sharma Oli government has failed in every aspect of managing the resources and Nepal. His vision and leadership  proves to be of no worth that could not facilitate even the earthquake reconstruction.
