Prakash Dahal Says No to Government Aid

Kathmandu, 18 March,2012: Amidst the controversy of the Baburam’s government releasing 20 Million to 11 member everset expedition team Lumbini-Sagarmatha Peace Mission 2012, Mr. Prakash Dahal has publically announced not to accept the money from the government.

Prakash the son of Maoist chairman Prachanda, recently rumored his comment saying we had demanded 30 million but they sanctioned only 20 million where People outraged with the attitude of making the public money being used with such cause.

Media stunts or bad political culture, Nepal’s politics is yet to see the real aim and vision of so called youth leader.  I think the leaders of Nepal are incompetent and they rarely understand the power of responsibility and credibility.

Now getting back to technicalities, the government’s cabinet decided to release the money on Friday and as soon as the word came out, the opposition youth leaders and parties they came down to streets and started protesting. My question is why are we being so helpless?  Why is every time when there is something wrong happening, we needs to be realized by shutdown, road protest and agitation program. Democracy gives you the right to voice to say what is wrong but it doesn’t gives you the right to follow the path of violence.

My arguments are

1.  Why and how does Mr Praksh deserve such huge amount of money?

2. Is it a media stunt that the Maoists party is doing for popularity?

3.  When the country is going through such tough times why are we having a political disagreement in such minor issues, where our political attention should be prioritized in more important issues like peace process, constitution making process, PLA settlement etc

4. Why Baburam lead government is being so flexible towards his party, isn’t it another form of corruption and where is Centre for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) ?

Thinkable yet lack of carelessness, it’s high time for us to think what kind of political culture we are breeding. Is this the democracy that we all wanted where violence, corruption and power play rules in, and the context of people’s aspiration are subsidize and marginalized………………………..
