Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov, 62, was shot dead by a  gunman, identified as Mevlut Mert Altintas at a photo exhibition titled “From Kaliningrad to Kamchatka, from the eyes of travellers” which featured photos from Russia’s westernmost Baltic region to the Kamchatka Peninsula, in the east.

The 22-year-old assailant was also shot dead by the police where he shouted “Don’t forget Aleppo. Don’t forget Syria!” after shooting the Ambassdor.
