Chickens dead with Avian Influenza

Kathmandu, 21 March 21, 2012: Bird flu infection has been confirmed in yet another farm in lalitputr within a week of its spotting in Dallu. The officials have confirmed the infection of Avian influenza in livestock chicken in a farm in Lalitpur district. Hundreds of livestock chickens were culled and the area has been well contained. The officials are further investigating the round up area of 3 miles just in case of infection.

According to the District Public Health Office (DPHO), “The infection has been well contained and disinfected. We are further doing test in nearby area just to take preventive measure. We have to be very careful about this disease and its allocation of infection, the sighting has been random and we are monitoring it with priority. We have schedule regular monitoring in prune areas and further have established quick response teams in case of emergency. We highly recommend people to be careful while dealing with chicken meat and from the place where they are buying it.”

It was reported that the disease was spotted from Sunday when the chicken started dying in the farm.
